The Daily Nugget- Worship And Serve
Hi All
The word “avad” (עבד) is a Biblical Hebrew verb that means to work, to serve, or to worship. It links everyday working and serving others directly to spiritual devotion and to honouring God.To worship and serve God means to give Him our highest love, honour, and complete obedience. We can only achieve this because Jesus sent us a “helper” in the form of the “Holy Spirit” that lives within us(John 14:16).It is only through the “helper” that we develop an attitude within us of awe and gratitude that moves us to live according to God's will and enables us to serve others around us with a willing heart.
Be Blessed And Encouraged
Worship And Serve
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)
Come, let us worship and bow down,Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. (Psalm 95:6)
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship (Romans 12:1).
Scripture links true worship and faithful service directly to God. Verses like Psalm 100:2 which says “Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before him with joyful singing”, teach us that honouring God involves joyful praise and serving Him with a willing heart. God wants our worship and praise to be an everyday occurrence and not just something we do in Church on a Sunday and He wants our worship to be sincere.Jesus Himself said when speaking to the woman at the well “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”(John 4:24).
Our God is our Creator(Genesis 1:1), He is The “King of Kings” and “The Lord of Lords”(Revelation 19:16). For a believer to worship and serve Him is a “Privilege” and “Honour” and we should always do so with totally willing and surrendered hearts .
