The Daily Nugget-Our Teacher
Hi All
During His ministry Jesus taught us many things and used many ways to do so,using parables, direct commands and showing us by example. His teachings were centred around God's love, kingdom ethics (like the Sermon on the Mount Matthew 5-7),forgiveness, and a new way of living based on compassion, service, and inner transformation, leaving a legacy based on morality and spirituality.Jesus would teach in various and diverse settings meeting people where they were(one example being the woman at the well John 4:7-15).At the last supper Jesus tells His disciples “You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am”(John 13:13),Jesus is also Our Lord and Teacher and all we need.
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Our Teacher
33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. 35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.
(Psalm 119:33-35)
Whenever we buy a new appliance it usually comes with a manual, usually written by those who designed the product, that will teach us how to use it.As Christians we have been given a “how to manual” for life called The Bible and it is only natural that the one who wrote it would be the most effective teacher and most able to answer any of our questions and this is why the psalmist said “ Teach me Oh Lord”(Psalm129:33).
The Bible teaches us that in a world which is broken, where all around us we are encouraged to live for ourselves and follow fleshly desires,we can still live in a way that pleases God and brings Him glory. Living for Jesus in a fallen world is not easy and can only be done if we are totally committed to His teachings and allow Him to guide us in every aspect of our lives. We also, like the psalmist, should be prepared to say “Teach me Oh Lord”.
