The Daily Nugget-Kingdom First

In the book of Matthew Jesus gives us a message which lies at the heart of Christianity when he says “seek first the kingdom of God”(Matthew 6:33) which means we need to prioritize God's will,and righteousness above all earthly desires, trusting He will provide for our needs as we focus on His eternal kingdom. To do this involves living in a way that brings glory to God through praying, scripture reading and putting God's interests first in our hearts. Rather than chasing worldly rewards,we should display evidence of a life transformed by God's presence,and let His will be done in all circumstances as we align ourselves to God's purposes for us. We can then be just like David and ask The Lord to  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer(Psalm 19:14).

Kingdom First

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

(Matthew 6:33)

In the above scripture Jesus tells His followers to make seeking God's kingdom and His standards of right and wrong first priority in our lives,seeking His kingdom should come before everything.Personal ambition,wealth or worldly possessions should all sit well below our need to have God first in our lives,choosing instead to trust Him to provide for everything we need everyday (all these things shall be added unto you).

This teaching goes against loving the world or pursuing selfish desires, as the world and its cravings pass away,but doing God's will leads to eternal life(1John 2:16-17).When we deny ourselves and submit to God's will our character will start to mirror that of The Lords as we start to show the same mercy and grace to others that God shows us.
