The Daily Nugget- Chlidlike Faith

Hi All

Young children very rarely have a hidden agenda so what you see is what you get. Everything is simple and straightforward for them,whereas as adults we tend to complicate even the simplest of things and this can be especially true when it comes to our faith. Jesus however teaches in the bible that we need to have “Childlike Faith” to enter the kingdom of heaven(Matthew 18:3),meaning that in the same way a young child trusts and depends on a loving parent,we should have the same attitude when it comes to our trust and faith in God.

13. Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

14. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.15. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

16. And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

(Mark 10:13-16)

Jesus not only welcomed the presence of children but also encouraged all believers to come to Him with the faith of a child. Childlike faith for a believer means letting go of self-reliance,coming before God in humility and trusting Him with the simple,humble dependence of a child,allowing Him to have complete control over every aspect of our lives.

Childlike faith has so much to offer as it enables us to accept the grace of God as a free gift and restores our sense of awe and wonder at creation. We are also able to live without fear and anxiety as we learn to trust God rather than complicating every issue by overthinking. The greatest benefit however is that it brings us closer to God,so we can come before Him in prayer uninhibited and with total honesty,present all our worries to Him. Being in The Lord’s presence is our refuge, a place of joy and security, something we should SIMPLY ENJOY !
