The Daily Nugget-Be Forgiving
Hi All
One thing that should set us apart as believers is our ability to forgive even when it may appear that in certain situations it is unmerited, but it's something we need to be prepared to do to enable us to walk with The Lord and grow in His ways. This is something none of us find easy and can only be done with the help of the Holy Spirit within us. When we learn to forgive in the same way God forgave us we can live free of any resentment and without bearing any grudges and we are also being obedient to what we are told in scripture “bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you"(Colossians 3:13).
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Be Forgiving
"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted , forgiving one another, even as God forgave you ( Ephesians 4:32)
Something all believers tend to struggle with is forgiveness, especially if someone upsets us and shows no remorse, which in our eyes may make them unworthy of our forgiveness, however the Bible is full of stories about people who had to learn to forgive.
One of the best examples of forgiveness in the Bible is Esau who forgave his twin brother Jacob despite his deception (Genesis 27).
The bible says that “Then Esau ran to meet him (Jacob) and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept”.(Genesis 33:4).
We also read of how Joseph forgave his brothers (Genesis 50:15-21) and how Hosea forgave his wife repeatedly despite her betrayal of him (Hosea 1-3) and there are many more acts of forgiveness spread throughout the bible.
However, of all the acts of forgiveness in the bible the greatest of all has to be that of Jesus Christ who shed His blood so that we could have redemption and forgiveness of sins. Our forgiveness from God is a measure of how we should forgive others as The Lord taught us'”And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors (Matthew 6:12).
