Hi All

We read in our text today how important praise was for the pilgrims when they first, arrived in North America and over the years praise has been an integral part of every Christians’ faith journey. As believers  we have so many reasons to praise and thank God, we do so to acknowledge that He is worthy, we celebrate Him as the creator God who sustains life. We thank Him for our salvation and for our redemption and by doing so we recognise His love, mercy and power in providing for and protecting His people but most of all we should praise Him for who He is. Praising God also helps us shift focus away from our problems, creating in us a spirit of gratitude, and drawing us closer to God's presence and power in times of difficulty. No matter what season of life we are in there will always be something to praise and thank God for, we can never underestimate what a difference praising God can make to all believers, immediately our spirits are lifted and we experience a joy and peace that cannot be explained(Philippians 4:7).

Be Blessed and Encouraged

The Importance of Praising God

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

(Psalm 89:1)

11 It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;   12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;   13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

(2 Timothy 2:11-13, NASB)

Just twenty years after the Pilgrims arrived in North America, they printed a hymnbook: the Bay Psalm Book. The fact that the first book the Pilgrims published was a hymnbook reveals just how important praise was to these early North American Christians. The singing of psalms (songs) from the biblical book of Psalms was standard in many denominations for centuries and still is in some churches. And it is not hard to see why. The biblical psalms made up the “hymnbook” of ancient Israel as they praised the God of Israel in worship. And the most consistent theme of the psalms of praise was the faithfulness of God: His covenant love for His chosen people. God’s words and deeds toward Israel can be summarized in one word: faithfulness. And it was the faithfulness of God that the psalmists wrote about and the choirs sung about: “With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.”(Psalm 89:1).Praise is the proper response to God’s faithfulness. Let’s Take a moment to think of the ways God has been faithful to us  and offer Him our praises.
