The Daily Nugget
Hi All
When we speak of revelation from a Christian point of view, we refer to how God makes Himself known to us. One way we can gain revelation of God is simply by looking around us at the beauty of His natural creation. God also reveals Himself to us through dreams, visions and the inner presence of The Holy Spirit. The greatest revelation we receive however is through The Bible which is His living and active word in which Jesus Christ is central. As believers we need to be constantly “Hungry” to receive revelation from God, just as David stated in Psalm 63:1 “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water”.
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Hungry For Revelation
Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart.
(Jeremiah 15:16)
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
(Hebrews 5:12-14)
Doctors and nutritionists tell us that missing meals can have a long term impact on our eating habits and can lead to developing strong cravings for certain foods, mainly those containing sugar and carbohydrates. As Christians the same thing can happen in a spiritual sense, if we start to miss our time of personal study, we could lose our healthy spiritual appetite and end up “feeding” our mind on "junk food” …things that can impact us in a negative way. It’s normal for a healthy soul to crave a few morsels from the book of Proverbs, which are simple and easy to digest. Other times we need a long, slow, hot meal from Ephesians or Ezekiel. Are you ever hungry for the Sermon on the Mount? Thirsty for the worship of the Psalms? Hungry for Revelation? The entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation is a food cupboard for our souls. It’s God’s menu for our mind and heart, manna for every morning and bread for every night. When we hunger and thirst for Scripture, God richly feeds and sustains us with His nourishing Word.Let’s ask God to give us a hunger for scripture and a desire take it into our daily walk.
