The Daily Nugget
Hi All
In Christianity, one of our core beliefs is that Jesus intercedes for us and verses like Romans 8:34 which says, "Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and He is interceding for us", are confirmation. This means that he advocates for believers before God the Father, acting as a mediator. This ongoing role is seen as a continuation of his work on Earth and is understood to provide ongoing forgiveness, strength, and salvation for believers as the author of Hebrews confirms “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them”(Hebrews 7:25). Just as Jesus prays for us, all around us are people who need us to follow Jesus’s example and love them with our prayers, inviting God’s help and intervention in their lives. We can ask God to help us pray for them, and He will! May our loving Lord strengthen us to generously give the gift of our prayers for others today.
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Jesus Intercedes for Us
It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
(Romans 8:34)
23 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
(Hebrews 7:23-25, NASB)
Our Lord’s prayer life didn’t stop when He ascended to heaven. While He was on earth, He looked up to heaven when He prayed. Now on the throne He has only to look over, as it were, and talk to the Father on behalf of His children. Perhaps you wished you had someone who would pray for you with more intensity. Maybe you wonder if anyone ever really prays for you in an earnest manner. Yes! Jesus makes intercession for you. The word “intercession” means to intercede for another, to speak on their behalf as by pleading or petition. Hebrews 7:25 says, “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them”.Take a moment to ponder this:- Your Saviour prays for you. He is doing so right now.“God’s hearing of our prayers does not depend upon sanctification, but upon Christ’s intercession”. One of the best ways we as believers can show love to others is to pray for them and Jesus is our ultimate example of this because even after showing His selfless love by going to the cross, our risen Lord continues to show us His love by praying for us even right now. Lets show that same love by praying into the needs of those around us Amen !
