The Daily Nugget-TurnTo God First
Hi All
Today in our text we look at Jehosophat King of Judah who when faced with an attack by a vast army cried out to God in prayer and said “we don't know what to do but our eyes are on you”(2 Chronicles 20:12). God answered and Jehosophat was victorious(Read 2 Chronicles 20:1-30). There are many other similar stories in the scriptures of God answering the prayers of those who cry out to Him.As believers even though we know these stories and have seen God come through for us in the past we can still tend to try and solve things on our own and go to God as a last resort. We serve a God who wants us to take all our troubles to Him and lay our burdens at His feet(Psalm 55:22) and He wants to be our first option as scripture tells us “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”.(Matthew 6:33).
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Turn To God First
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.
(2 Chronicles 20:12)
Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, was out of answers. A vast army had gathered against Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat realized he had “no power against this great multitude.” A king or commander knows when the odds are for him or against him, when man’s military (or other) answers are adequate and when they aren’t. Yes, we should pray and seek the Lord in either case. But in some cases, the better part of wisdom is to pray, “This is way beyond me. I have no idea what to do, Lord, but my eyes are on You!”(2 Chronicles 17:20). In the book of John we read of Peter confessing “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
We should never be afraid to say, “Lord, I have no idea.” God knows what to do and is waiting for you to ask Him.Our prayers don't always have to be long and drawn out, sometimes the most powerful prayers are the most simple prayers.
