The Daily Nugget- Time With God
Hi All
As Christians the importance of meeting together for fellowship should never be taken lightly and we are reminded of this in scripture ,”Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near”(Hebrews 10:25). Meeting together enables us to support, encourage and build each other up, this is why bible studies or prayer meetings are just as important as,weekly services as they give us a chance to build relationships and strengthens us as a body of believers. We are all different but all have a part to play and when we come together it makes us a strong unit collectively “For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function,so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another”.(Romans 12:4-5). Just as we should not neglect our fellowship with each other, as we read in our text today our most important fellowship is our relationship with The Lord.
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Time With God
1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us–3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
(1 John 1:1-4)
The New Testament word fellowship (koinonia) comes from a root word that means “common.” From that idea come the notions of community, and communion. The apostle John in his first epistle wrote about the fellowship we have “with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3)and, therefore, the fellowship we have with others who are in fellowship with God. But the idea of fellowship(union)but is that union still there when we sin ? John answers this question when he tells us“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”(1 John 1:7).He then expands on this when he tells us“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”(1John 1:9).
There is nobody among us who lives a sinless life, but through confession of our sins and God's forgiveness we can still enjoy our fellowship with Him. We must never doubt that God loves us and wants us to be in fellowship with Him, that is why if we confess to Him our faults and failures He is willing to forgive us. When God invites us to
fellowship with Him, it is also an invitation to have an intimate relationship with Him and spend time in His presence and for Christians there is nothing more rewarding.
