The Daily Nugget-The God Of Wonder
Hi All
When we read the bible we can find many examples of miraculous acts God has done for His people, so when we hear the phrase “God is a God of wonders” we know that it refers to our God who carries out miraculous wonders on behalf of His people, which we can read about in both the old and new testaments. Our text today tells of how God intervened for the Hebrew slaves in Egypt before the Exodus. In the New Testament God's ultimate intervention was when He sent Jesus to the cross so that we had the opportunity to be reconciled with God our Heavenly Father, which could only be possible through Jesus' death and resurrection as scripture tells us “Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.(2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Thank You Lord !

The God of Wonder
"Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders”?
(Exodus 15:11)
Then he said, "Tomorrow." So he said, "May it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God. (Exodus 8:10)
Before the Exodus, the Hebrew slaves lived under the heel of Egyptian pharaohs. Suddenly, for a period of time, they witnessed the supernatural intervention of God in their lives. Ten plagues afflicted Egypt: blood, frogs, lice, flies, death of livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn of man and beast.
This must have been a real shock to the people, but there was much more to come! When the pharaoh finally let them leave, they saw the destruction of the Egyptian army in the waters of the Red Sea which were parted miraculously by the hand of God.They went from centuries of “natural” to months of “supernatural.” This is why the first thing Moses did after the deliverance through the Red Sea was to lead the people in a song of praise to The Lord singing “Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
Our God is a God who works wonders, this is a truth that Moses would very often tell his people when they became restless(Deuteronomy 4:30-40). The God who worked wonders in Moses day is the same God who will work wonders in our lives today and like Moses and his people we should also sing our praises to God:-
“Great God of wonders, all thy ways are matchless, godlike, and divine; but the fair glories of thy grace, more godlike and unrivalled shine”.
( A Line From the classic 18th century hymn “Great God Of Wonders”)
