The Daily Nugget - The Spirit Dwelling Within Us
Hi All
In Christianity, the indwelling Spirit refers to the Holy Spirit permanently residing in a believer's body, starting at conversion. This concept signifies that a Christian's body is a "temple of the Holy Spirit" and that believers are indwelt by all three persons of the Trinity:-God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is described as the "Spirit of Christ" that empowers believers, provides inner assurance and guidance, and helps them resist sin.The Holy Spirit is also described as interceding for believers (Romans 8:26-27), living within them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and enabling them to be transformed (2 Corinthians 3:18). As believers we have the ultimate “Helper” living inside us who was sent by “The Father in Jesus Name” (John 14:26)
Be Blessed and Encouraged
The Spirit Dwelling Within Us
13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.(Ephesians 1:13-14)
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, (Ephesians 5:15)
Read :- Ephesians 5:1-21
A core doctrine in the Christian faith is the belief that God is three in one “Father” “Son” and “Holy Spirit” of these three the “Holy Spirit” is the least spoken about and because of this when He is mentioned some Christians can become apprehensive due to lack of knowledge. But there is nothing to fear because the Bible speaks about the Spirit in both the Old Testament and the New. The Spirit is the One who helps us in our weakness (Rom. 8:26)! Born-again Christians are marked and sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13-14). We have all of Him,but there is a difference between the Spirit’s indwelling and infilling, but how do we know the difference ?
The Bible repeatedly tells us that one of the first signs of a Spirit-filled and godly person is what that person turns away from. Several passages of scripture guide us as to how we should try to live,we read in Ephesians 5:3 that we are not to have “even a hint” of sexual immorality we are also warned against any “obscene chat”(Ephesians 5:4) and we are advised to “Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise” (Eph 5:15).
We read in the bible about “spirit filled singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”(Epheeians 5:19)something we can only do with the help of the “Holy Spirit” dwelling within us to guide and direct us everyday. Thank You Lord !
