The Daily Nugget- Remembering

HI All,

As Christians we are all fine until we hit a bump in the road and we start to think what do I do, how can I cope. That is when we should take time and remember all that God has brought us through. When the Psalmist was going through troubles he took comfort when he looked back on what God has done for him in the past “I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old”(Psalm 77:11).

When we take time to reflect and we realise that God never has or never will let us down,we can have peace no matter what we are going through safe in the knowledge that God has our backs(Psalm 121:7-8).This quote by Puritan theologian Stephen Charnock sums it up  “How worthy it is to remember former benefits when we come to beg for new”.

Be Blessed and Encouraged

Remembering

11 I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.   12 I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.

(Psalm 77:11-12)

The almighty God reminded Moses that He was the One who "brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" (Exodus 2:20).He was the One who sent the plagues upon Egypt. He was the One who parted the Red Sea. He was the One who led the people of Israel with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. He was the One who fed them daily with manna. He was the One who brought water from the rock.

“Remembering” was an integral part of the Israelite culture as reflected in the Old Testament: “For He established a testimony in Jacob...that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God” (Psalm 78:5-7). What God did in the past,His works, wonders, and Word, were to be the foundation for faith in the future.

The same is true for us. What God does for us today will be a memory come tomorrow—and the foundation on which we will build a life of faith going forward Praise God !
