The Daily Nugget- Receiving The Spirit

HI All

In Christian theology, "quenching your thirst" refers to finding ultimate spiritual satisfaction, peace, and eternal life through Jesus Christ rather than worldly pursuits. Jesus offers "Living Water”,”The Holy Spirit”which quenches the soul's deep longing, providing lasting fulfillment, joy, and spiritual renewal to those who believe.Jesus invites anyone who is thirsty to come to him and drink, promising that those who believe will have streams of living water flowing from within them(John 7:38).This living water represents the Holy Spirit, which is part of God’s plan to restore and fill believers and it is  only by accepting “invitation”that we can be truly fed and spiritually nourished.

Be Blessed And Encouraged

Receiving The Spirit

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." The Ascension   (Acts 1:8)

Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

(Acts 2:38)

Accepting the Holy Spirit is central to Christianity, occurring when a person believes in Jesus Christ, sealing them for salvation. It involves inviting God’s presence through faith, repentance, and prayer, resulting in an inner transformation, empowerment for godly living, and the enabling of spiritual gifts. As believers we receive the Holy Spirit when we place our faith in Jesus Christ as our saviour, which prompts God to seal the believer with the Spirit. This process involves repenting of sins, asking God for the gift of the Spirit in faith, and submitting to His will, and having a deep desire for intimacy with Him.In scripture Jesus tell us God will “give the spirit to those who ask Him”.

Although we may receive the “Holy Spirit”,being filled with the spirit is an ongoing process which involves surrendering all our thoughts and actions to God's will and by living our lives longing for more of His presence everyday, lets be like the psalmist when he said:-

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God”.

(Psalm 42:1)
