The Daily Nugget- Promises Of God

In our text today we read about the promises of God and the more we grow in our relationship with God the more we realise that He is totally dependable and will never let us down,this is so reassuring because in our world today we can be let down in so many ways, whether it be by
friendships,workmates,doctors, repair men etc, we come across people who don't honour their word.God on the other hand always honours His word as it tells us in scripture “The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."(Deuteronomy 31:8).

Promises of God
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.
(Psalm 19:7-9)
For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.
(2 Corinthians 1:20)
When people talk about politicians, especially during election times, there is always mention of politicians making promises they can't keep. The politicians can promise change but only parliament can authorize it. Not keeping a promise we can keep is bad , but making a promise we can't keep is maybe worse. This is true for us all not just politicians, in Ecclesiastes 5:5 Solomon wrote " Better not to vow than to vow and not pay".
God is different on both accounts. He is capable of making any promise and keeping it ….which reflects His omnipotence or power. He is also incapable of making a promise and not keeping it…..which is a reflection of His never changing character. As Psalm 19:7-9 tells us God's words are always true and always trustworthy
God promises to strengthen us. ...
God promises to give us rest. ...
God promises to take care of all our needs. ...
God promises to answer our prayers. ...
God promises to work everything out for our good. ...
God promises to be with us ...
God promises to protect us. ...
God promises us freedom from sin.
When God says something or makes a promise …..about forgiveness, eternal life, grace and mercy, His love , His provision for our needs…..those words are trustworthyThat is why we are told in proverbs to " Trust in the Lord with all your heart"(Proverbs 3:5).
In times of trouble trust in the promises of God…He WILL keep every promise He has ever made. To quote holocaust survivor and missionary worker Corrie Ten Boon "Let God’s promises shine on your problems".
