The Daily Nugget- Our Keeper
Hi All
Following on from yesterday where we looked into the first part of Psalm 121(Verses 1-3) and it showed us how God is our protector. As we will see today in the remainder of Psalm 121(verses 3-8) God is also our keeper. In Hebrew the word for keeper is “shomer” which also can mean “watchman” or “guardian” this tell us that as God's children He is watching over us and keeping us safe and we can read in scripture several conformations of this for example “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble”.(Psalm 46:1) and in the new testament we can read “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one”(2 Thess 3:3). We are so blessed to have a loving Father who wants to be involved in the lives of all believers and watches over us constantly Amen !
Our Keeper
3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.(Psalm 121:3-8)
“He who keeps you will not slumber”(121:3). There are many people who are fearful of the dark, but we can be assured as our God needs no sleep and will always be there when we cry out to Him even in the dead of night.
“The Lord is your keeper … He will keep your soul”(121: 5, 7).If parents need to leave their children with a loving grandparent, they know that they will be protected and provided for. Our God through His love for us will do all this and so much more, keeping us safe and providing all we need both “spiritually” and “physically”,allowing only what He knows is good for us, whilst The Holy Spirit will guide us and enable us to grow in our spiritual walk.
“The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever” (121: 8). God is sovereign. He is always, with us protecting, guiding, and teaching. He accompanies and leads us, even in the small things that seem insignificant, because if something matters to us it matters to Him.
No matter where we go our loving heavenly Father is with us He is Our Keeper, Our Protector,Our Strength and Our Guide and He watches over us in a way that no one else ever could Amen!
