The Daily Nugget- Obedience To God

The decision to obey God must ultimately be a personal one and we reach this decision through our own beliefs and convictions.Obedience to God is not only a way to worship him, but a way to get closer to him, prepare for whatever he leads you to and grow as a person. As Christians, we know we are not saved by our works but by faith in Jesus, but as scripture tells us “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”.(Ephesians 2:10),the book of James tells us “faith without works is dead “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead”.(James 2:26). Obeying God should be a joy for every believer,a way to worship Him and grow our faith to enable us to do the “good works” God has prepared for us.When we have a close relationship with God it leads to us experiencing His blessings guidance and wisdom.

Obedience To God

He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."

(John 14:21)

The scriptures below highlight the importance of obeying God. These verses teach us  that obedience is a demonstration of love for God, a path to blessings, and a reflection of a relationship with Him. Obedience is ultimately  a choice between following God's commands or choosing our own way,with the former leading to positive outcomes, but the latter very often leads  to negative consequences.

1 "Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.(Deuteronomy 28:1)

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.(1 John 5:3)

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.(John 14:15)

But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men.(Acts 5:29)

Obeying God should not be seen as a burden,but rather as a blessing which brings us joy and a way of worshipping him and growing in our faith.Ultimately, we will feel most satisfied when we are in a right relationship to God which can only come through obedience.

Obedience to God is a way for all believers to show our love for Him and it tells Him that we are willing to submit our lives totally to Him.
