The Daily Nugget- Cleansed
Hi All
Before we were saved we were all sinners, but as we read today because God sent His son to the cross we have been given a way out of the darkness and we are now cleansed by His blood and although we still sin if we repent and confess our sins by God's grace we are forgiven.“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace”(Ephesians 1:7).When we become Christians we are “cleansed” at someone else's expense Jesus Christ and that is the good news of the gospel Amen !
Be Blessed and Encouraged
Cleansed
1 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge.5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
(Psalm 51:1-5)
When we first come to Jesus, we do so with our guilt and shame. When we ask Him to forgive us and we receive Him as our Saviour, He cleanses us or purifies us from our sins and makes us new. What a joy it is to know we are in right standing with God because of Jesus’ sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5:21) and to know God removes our sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, has provided forgiveness for our sins.
All of us at some point will have said or done something we shouldn't or not said or done something we should and that is when we need to turn to God to ask Him to forgive us and allow Him to “cleanse”us of all our guilt and shame.
Psalm 51 is the cry of David when temptation had triumphed in his life. When confronted by a spiritual mentor about his sin (see 2 Samuel 12), he prayed a “Wash me!” prayer: “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” (Psalm 51:7). Although we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus this doesn't mean that we will never sin again As John reminds us “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us”(1John1:8). However the good news is that if we confess our sins The Lord will forgive us and cleanse us “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. (1 John 1:9).
