The Daily Nugget
Hi All
In our world today, everyone seems to be rushing about, cramming more and more into each day.. sometimes things we do may be good for example helping others.I heard a preach years ago about this and it has stuck with me ever since,it was about how easily we can busy ourselves at the expense of our time with God and that the church can become a more of a social event for us than a spiritual experience. It is an easy trap to fall into and one the enemy uses to distract us and take our focus away from our Lord as if we are tired it can affect our ability to serve Him, even if we are willing our text today teaches us that we must be at times be willing to say no when asked to participate in things so as not to over commit and this can also apply to our church life.
Matthew 11:28-30
28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Take time today to slow down and spend time in the presence of The Lord !
Be Blessed and Encouraged
God Wants Willingness not Weariness
"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
(Psalm 46:10)
Busy :-
B: Being
U: Under
S: Satan's
Y: Yoke
Being busy doing "good things" seems ok but sometimes doing the "good things" can stop you doing the "great thing" which is spending time with God and resting in his presence. The enemy will do anything to keep us away from God and the peace he brings us. One of his most powerful weapons is keeping us so busy that we end up living in a constant state of turmoil and always being tired, to the point where we can neglect the things that are really important. We all have certain commitments we must make in life, like caring for the children and loved ones, going to work etc,but over and above that how busy we are is our choice. We need to have wisdom and discernment by asking God what he really wants us to get involved with and then saying no to everything else. Saying no is difficult particularly if it's something we want to do, but being obedient to God's wishes will always be so much more rewarding.God wants willingness not weariness and wants us to always put him first. The challenge for us all is this Is being busy doing things for God preventing us from spending time with God ?
