The Daily Nugget- Tempted

Hi All

As Christians, experiencing temptation shows we are human and on a path of spiritual growth, meant to refine our faith. The Bible promises that God is faithful and will always provide a way to escape or endure temptation, we will never be tested beyond what we have the capacity to handle(1 Corinthians 10:13).Temptation is not a sin but a human experience, which often stems from fleshly or worldly desires and it's only when we succumb that sin enters our lives. This is why we must guard our hearts and minds at all times(Proverbs 4:23) and be careful to avoid anything that may entice us to stray from the path God has set out for us, as it tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6 we need to “Trust in the Lord” ….and “He will direct your path”

Be Blessed And Encouraged

Tempted

12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

(James 1:12-17)

All of us are tempted all the time, but not always at the same time, by the same things, or to the same degrees.Temptation is like a virus. It is always reinventing itself, seeking our current weakness and then attacking us.Fortunately we have a “Great Physician” that is The Lord and by staying close to Him we can stand strong against anything thrown at us.

In our passage today James is teaching on temptation and how easily we can be led astray or deceived by the enemy without even realising it however James also gives us the answer about how to deal with temptation when it does come along “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7-8). We can do this when we meditate on God's word, talk to Him through prayer, confess our sins and let the “Holy Spirit” guide us everyday.
