The Daily Nugget
Hi All
Many people in today’s world are undependable. They don’t honour their word, whether it involves their workplace, their relationships, or their marriage. Let’s do better than that. And let’s remember that God is faithful, and we can count on every word in the scriptures. The Bible tells us that “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord”.(1 Corinthians 1:9). God promises to strengthen us,take care of all our needs, answer our prayers and to work everything out for our good. Just as God kept his promises for the Israelites( Joshua 21:43-45)so we can be certain He will do the same for us.
Be Blessed and Encouraged
God Always Keeps His Promises
10 Then the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying,11 "Ask a sign for yourself from the LORD your God; make it deep as Sheol or high as heaven."12 But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, nor will I test the LORD!"13 Then he said, "Listen now, O house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well?14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
(Isaiah 7:10-14)
Each of the four Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life were addressed to a unique audience,Matthew’s account was written for Jewish readers. Fifteen times in Matthew the author refers to Old Testament prophecies being “fulfilled” through the birth, life, and ministry of Jesus. This emphasis on fulfilment was to convince Jewish readers that Jesus was the promised Messiah.
One of the best examples of Matthew’s purpose is found in Matthew 1:22:“So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet [Isaiah].”Matthew was referring to the prophecy that a virgin would bear a Son as a sign that God was with the people (Immanuel). And Matthew wrote that Mary was the virgin and Jesus was the Son who was “God with us” (Matthew 1:23). Matthew wanted his readers to know not only that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah but also that God fulfils His promises.Just as God kept His promise two thousand years ago, so He will keep His promises today. He is still Immanuel”God with us”and we can trust Him.
As we grow in Christ, we gain understanding of the importance of the promises in the Bible, and trust that we can rely on each one. We also become more Christlike, growing to be faithful as He is faithful. As believers we must stand on the promises of God and in The words of the wonderful Corrie Ten Boom "Let God’s promises shine on your problems".
