The Daily Nugget- Why Jesus Came

As Christians one of our core beliefs is that Jesus came to earth to save sinners, reconcile humanity with God, and demonstrate divine love.
Jesus offered his life as a ransom sacrifice on the cross to take the judgment for human wrongdoing and in doing so all who believe in Him will have eternal life. In Jesus' own words He came to “save the lost”(Luke 19:10) and to teach us how to live an abundant life(John 10:10)through love and obedience. He also made us a promise that He would “never leave us or forsake us”(Hebrews 13:5).What a wonderful saviour we have !

Why Jesus Came
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
(John 6:38-40)
In the Gospels Jesus made some express statements regarding His mission on earth and around half of these statements can be found in the Gospel of John when He states I have come…..,.. ”in my fathers name”(John 5:43), “to do the will of He who sent me”(John 6:38),” for judgement”(John 6:39),”that they may have life in abundance”(John 10:10)”as a light for the world”(John 12:46),”to bear witness to the truth”(John 18:37).We are also told Jesus came to….”call sinners to repentance”(Luke 5:32 and also in Matthew 9:13,Mark 2:17) and in Mark 1:38 Jesus says "Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for."
To the Jews of the time these mission statements from Jesus were far removed from the expectations they held,because they anticipated a political and military king who would overthrow Roman rule, whereas he came as teacher and a spiritual saviour who would suffer and die on a cross that we may be reconciled to the Father Thank You Lord !
