The Daily Nugget-Set Free

Hi All

“Who the son sets free is free indeed” is a quote from Jesus(John 8:36). For Christians being set free by God, particularly through Jesus Christ, signifies liberation from the bondage of sin, spiritual death, and guilt, offering a new life of righteousness and grace. It is a central biblical promise, where abiding in truth and accepting Christ breaks the power of sin, allowing individuals to live in true, lasting freedom. In the book of Romans(8:2) Paul confirms this when he states “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death”When we gave our lives to The Lord we became children of God and as such we are no longer slaves to fear or sin and this is why Christ set us free(Galatians 5:1)Thank You Lord !

Be Blessed And Encouraged

Set Free

31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. 36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

(John 8:31-36)

In John 8:31-36, Jesus explains that being rooted in his word and knowing the truth makes us true disciples, which leads to the freedom He speaks about(John 8:36). As Children of God we have been “set free” by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, but this freedom is not the right to do what we want, but the ability to do what we should.Without Christ,we are slaves to sin, unable to do what is right. Christ's death on the Cross set us free from the penalty and power of sin.

The promise of “freedom”is at the centre of our Christian faith and a promise that only Jesus can deliver.Ephesians 1:7 describes our freedom as “being purchased by the blood of christ” and Galatians 5:1 encourages us to “stand firm”in our freedom and not be tempted to go back to our old ways. When we are set free we go from being in the “darkness” of the world into the wonderful “light” that is Jesus Christ Amen.
