The Daily Nugget- Rejoice In The Lord
Hi All
When we learn to “Rejoice in The Lord” we can find deep and lasting joy in Him, regardless of our circumstances. This joy is not just a temporary happiness or a fleeting emotion, no it is so much more, it is a steadfast delight in God's character, His works, and His presence in our lives. This joy is rooted in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and is a defining characteristic of the Christian life. This joy is not something we manufacture on our own,but a fruit of the Spirit as described in scripture “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness” (Galatians 5:22). There is no better experience than feeling the peace of God come over us in trying times Thank You Lord !
Rejoice in The Lord
16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
(1 Peter 2:15)
We have all heard of people who go to a solicitor and put in writing their wishes as to how any monies, possessions etc they have are to be distributed when they pass away. This is known as their” last will and testament” and ensures by law those wishes will be carried out exactly how they were written. In the new testament the phrase”This is the will of God,” can be found in several passages (1 Thessalonians 4:3; 5:18; 1 Peter 2:15). These are not suggestions but expressions of God’s will.
However for us as believers there are other ways of discovering God’s will through His inspired Word ,specifically, when commands are given.
For example, in Philippians 4:4 twice Paul tells us to “rejoice” even saying we are to”rejoice always”.In other words, Paul was commanding the Philippians to rejoice in all things—similar to 1 Thessalonians 5:18 where Paul said to “give thanks” in everything. These aren’t suggestions; they are the will of God for His people.
If you find it hard to rejoice in a certain situation, you can always rejoice in knowing that God is in control of everything. We must rejoice in God when we have nothing else to rejoice in.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
(Philippians 4:4)
