The Daily Nugget- Pray First
Hi All
Many times when we go through trials, we tend to immediately pick up the phone, speak with a friend to determine what to do.Before long, everybody knows you are going through it and are keen to give you advice but however well meaning the advice, sometimes it doesn't help and can actually confuse the issue and this is why we turn to God first as the Proverbs tell us “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight”.(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Be Blessed And Encouraged
Pray First
Sometimes God allows us to go through trials to strengthen us and make us better people(Although it might not feel like it at the time). If we pray about our circumstances they may not change but what does change is how we get through them, ...we get through them in God's strength not our own, when we leave things with God it removes our worries and anxieties. Imagine if we drew three “Circles” and called them “Worry Circle”, “Prayer Circle” and “Thanksgiving Circle” and wrote the following in each one.
1:- The Worry Circle in this circle we write the word NOTHING
Because the Bible says “Be anxious about nothing”:-
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”.
(Philippians 4:6)
2:- The Prayer Circle in this circle we write the word EVERYTHING
Because the Bible says “In everything let your requests be known to God”:-
“Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”.
(1 Peter 5:7)
3:- The Thanksgiving Circle in this circle we write the word ANYTHING
Because the Bible says “ Be thankful in all circumstances”:-
“In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus”.
(1 Thessalonians 5:18)
As Believers we can all look back and think of what God has done for us through answered prayer that is why we must always be thankful in our prayers because what God has done before He can do again the theologian William Hendrickson used the following analogy to sum up the importance of being thankful to God “Prayer without thanksgiving is a bit like a bird trying to fly without wings.” AMEN
