The Daily Nugget- Our God Given Talents

Hi All

As individuals we are all different and all have strengths and weaknesses,but God has given us all different abilities that we can use to serve in the  Kingdom for His glory. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." (1Peter4:10). What Peter is telling us here is that these talents are not meant for our own purposes but to be used in service to God and others.

These talents are given to us as individuals and can cover a wide range of abilities including,natural gifts, trained skills, spiritual gifts, and ministry callings and each one is valuable in the kingdom. We are all individuals but one body in Christ(1Corinthians 12:12-27)  and all of us are needed to glorify God using our “God given talents”.

6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;   7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching;   8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

(Romans 12:6-8)

Sometimes as individuals we may think we have nothing to offer, but that is what the enemy would have us believe,because his main goal is to make us as ineffective in the Kingdom as possible,but nothing could be further from the truth. As believers God has gifted us all with unique skills and abilities that we can use to further the Kingdom and to fulfil the plans God prepared in advance  for us to do when we became believers( Ephesians 2:10).

The abilities God gave us are primarily to be used for His glory and sometimes we may be called to serve Him in a manner that is well  out of our comfort zone, but if God has called  you to do something be obedient because those He calls He equips. Ultimately we must use our giftings to glorify God and advance the Kingdom. How wonderful it will be to one day hear the words well done good and faithful servant !

Our talents are a gift from God to us ! When we use them for His glory it is a way for us to give something back to God !
