The Daily Nugget- Life's Storms

Hi All

In Christian theology, "storms of life" refer to inevitable hardships, trials, and uncertainties. Rather than promising an easy life, scripture teaches that believers can find steadfast peace, spiritual growth, and the guiding presence of Jesus Christ through every difficulty. When trouble hits us its natural to think why is this happening, but sometimes God allows us to endure hardship to strengthen our faith and dependence on Him. As a result of living in a fallen world we will have trouble just as Jesus warned us in scripture but He also tells us that He has overcome the world(John 16.33). When we know Jesus is with us we can cope with any of “life's storms” that may come our way.

Be Blessed And Encouraged

Life's Storms

35 On that day, when evening came, He *said to them, "Let us go over to the other side."36 Leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.37 And there *arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they *woke Him and *said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.40 And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"41 They became very afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"(Mark 4:35-41)

The text above can be interpreted to mean that believing in Jesus does not guarantee that we will not face “trials” or “storms” at times in our lives as the disciples found out on the boat.Struggles can come along at any time even when we are being obedient to God, we are warned of this in scripture”Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”(2 Timothy 3:12).

When Jesus and the disciples left the shore that day He was well aware that a storm was coming, but although He could have prevented it ,He allowed it knowing that He would be there with them. Jesus also knew that a life with no trials produces very little faith, because it is  through trials we are strengthened.

As followers of Jesus we must always remember that when we  hit “stormy times” Jesus is in “our boat” to guide us through to the other side bringing us peace in every situation(John 14:27).
