The Daily Nugget- Joy In Worship
Hi All
In the dictionary “worship” is described as “the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration” and this is what we as believers are showing to God when we praise Him. Worship is our way to express our love and thanks to God and shows in us a desire to bring Him glory in all we do.(Hebrews 13:15).Worship can be shown in many different ways like singing, prayer, giving and serving but however we worship we should do it joyfully knowing that God inhabits the praises of His people(Psalm 22:3). True worship is the response of your heart to the truth of God’s Word. It encompasses your thoughts and emotions as you reflect on the character and nature of God, the Person and work of Christ, and the sanctifying ministry of the Holy Spirit. It’s your spirit’s response to the love of God and the countless ways it is displayed throughout His creation.

Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.

18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; 21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Marriage Like Christ and the Church.
(Ephesians 5:18-21)
One of the most debated topics within the Church is worship and over the years a variety of styles has been used, this is especially relevant in the 21st century church. Traditionally some churches have sung only Psalms, some sing unaccompanied by musicians, some choose to use choirs and some use only piano or keyboard to accompany the congregation.Over the last few decades it has become common for churches to have worship teams containing singers and a full band of musicians.
The New Testament doesn't go into specifics about how to worship, but it does tell us there should be “singing and making melody in [our] heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19).Nehemiah 12 is an example of the extent to which songs of praise and thanksgiving can be offered, multiple choirs and instrumentalists marching around the walls of Jerusalem before settling into the temple.
Regardless of the style of worship in your church, sing out with praise to The Lord “in spirit and truth”(John 4:24).Our praise should always be our outward manifestation of our inner joy and gratitude to God.There can be no better way of showing our love for God,than by coming together with our fellow believers and praising Him in harmony.
