The Daily Nugget- God WILL Sustain Us

The word sustain literally means to support and hold up. The Bible uses this word to describe God’s care for you. Psalm 54:4 says, “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me”.In times of trials and weakness or when we feel drained of energy, how wonderful it is to be able to turn to Our Lord who sustains all believers through his love, grace, and power, providing the inner strength to overcome challenges, maintain perseverance, and endure life's difficulties. As scripture tells us “He will not let the righteous be shaken”(Psalm 112:6). Through His divine presence,God provides inner strength and courage by being present with individuals, empowering them to overcome any difficulty.The Bible tells us that Jesus sustains all things by “His powerful word”(Hebrews 1:3) and “through Him all things hold together”(Colossians 1:17). No matter what life throws at us,we can be sure that The Lord will sustain us !

The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

We all have times when life seems to be one long struggle and anything that can go wrong will go wrong, whether it be health issues,breaking down of relationships or financial worries.All of these situations can lead us to breaking point and this is when we need to remember that we are not alone.In Hebrews 1:3 we are told that Jesus “sustains all things by His powerful word”, the word of God is living and powerful and we can turn to it for sustenance in any situation.
When King David was running from a rebellion staged by his son, Absalom, he found himself in a desolate corner of the desert. But he said, “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me” (Psalm 3:5). In Psalm 55:22, he wrote, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved”.
In the New Testament we read that Paul was sailing to Rome to stand trial before Caesar when his ship was caught in a violent storm and wrecked on the island of Malta(Acts 27).Miraculously all the men were saved, some by clinging to timbers and pieces of wood.
When we are going through the "stormy seas” of life,we can cling to God’s unsinkable promises, and they will sustain us. He will hold us up by His powerful promises. Asthe famous pastor Charles H Spurgeon once said "I know, perhaps as well as anyone, what depression means, and what it is to feel myself sinking lower and lower. Yet at the worst, when I reach the lowest depths, I have an inward peace."
We can all experience “inward peace” when we stand on the promises of God and allow Him to sustain us .”My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”(Psalms 73:26).
