The Daily Nugget- Faithful God

As Christians one of our fundamental beliefs is that “God is Faithful” which means God is consistently true to His Word, His nature, and His promises, which means that He gives us comfort and strength. The amazing thing is that even when we let Him down or appear faithless He keeps His promises as He remains true to Himself(2 Timothy 2:13). God is always unchangeable and totally reliable and when we as believers know and understand this it gives us great hope and assurance in every circumstance. “God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord”(1 Corinthians 1:9)

Faithful God
1 Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. 4 Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings.
(Psalm 61:1-4)
By writing the above verses, David was displaying his total faith and trust in God, which becomes even more remarkable as he probably wrote these words when in exile because his son Absalom had driven him off his throne.Can you imagine how he must have felt knowing that his own son was plotting against him, but rather than crumble he cried out to God knowing that God was His rock and the only one that would give him refuge.
Through the words in the above passage,David has given us a great example to follow when we are facing hardships.We have a God who we can trust to bring us through in any situation. He IS our rock,He IS our Anchor, He Is our Strength and He IS a very present help in times of trouble(Psalm 46:1). God’s words, promises, blessings,compassion and mercy are new for us every morning.
There is a wonderful old hymn that contains the following lyrics “All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me”.As believers we can all testify to the truth of those words.
