The Daily Nugget- Being Children Of God

Hi All

In Christian theology, "Children of God" refers to believers adopted into God's family through faith in Jesus Christ, enabling them to call God "Abba, Father"(Romans 8:15) and making them heirs to His promises(Galatians 3:29).The status of being a child of God is a gift to us from God granting us an intimacy and closeness to God we would otherwise not experience.Being children of God also enables us to display His characteristics under the guidance of The Holy Spirit. As His children by His grace, we can live knowing that we are free from the power of sin and secure in the knowledge that eternal life with The Father awaits us Amen!

Being Children Of God

12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,  13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

(John 1:12-13)

While all people are created in God's image, Christian theology distinguishes this from being a child of God, which specifically refers to those who have been redeemed and adopted. As believers we are not children of God by birth,but adopted into His family through our faith in Jesus Christ.When we become children of God we are given a new identity where we go from being “slaves to sin” to being “heirs with God” and. “co airs with Christ”( Romans 8:17).When we become Children of God we have direct access to God in prayer (Hebrews 4:16) and can relate to Him as a loving, protective Father. How wonderful it is that we have a Father who loves us so much that He would bring us into His family and be called His children(1 John 3:1). Thank You Lord !
