The Daily Nugget- Being Called
Hi All
When we become Christians “we are called out of the darkness into His marvelous light"(1Peter 2:9). This means that we must be willing to totally surrender our lives to God and allow Him to mould us into the people He created us to be and to do the things He pre planned for us to do(Ephesians 2:10).This may seem quite a frightening prospect but the good news is God wont call us to something then leave us to it NO He will be with us just He promised when He said “I will never leave you nor forsake you"(Deuteronomy 31:8). Being “called” takes on a wonderful spiritual journey full of peaks and troughs, which strengthen our faith as we learn to fully rely on Him, get to know Him intimately and grow to love Him more each day.
Be Blessed And Encouraged
Being Called
18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He *said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.(Matthew 4:18-22)
The calling of the disciples is a key episode in the life of Jesus in the New Testament and the above passage tells us of the calling of the first two disciples Peter and Andrew. Jesus would go on to call James the Greater, John, Philip, Bartholomew (Nathanael), Thomas, Matthew (Levi), James the Less, Jude (Thaddeus), Simon and Judas, plus Matthias and Paul,(who were not part of the Twelve). These men were not chosen because they were special they were just 12 ordinary men.
Being with Jesus meant that the disciples would learn first hand how to be servants to those around them by caring for them and meeting their needs.Jesus taught His disciples to bond with each other and to connect with God,so when it came time for the disciples to go into the world they were well prepared because Jesus had equipped them.
It is not always the equipped who are called, but those called will always be equipped, so be encouraged that whatever The Lord calls you to do He will equip you to fulfil that calling Amen !
